Cold Plunge | Contrast Therapy | Ice Bath | Cryo-Therapy…

Weightless Float Center has added a cold plunge to Louisiville! Step out of a 150º sauna and into a 49º F cold tub to experience the benefits of contrast therapy.

Contrast therapy—also called ‘fire and ice’— has countless benefits and has become one of the newest re-discoveries for modern health and wellness. It’s beautiful and reassuring to know the things that are most healthy for us are always within reach: water, sunlight, healthy food, meditation, exercise, heat and cold exposure.

We’re no strangers to deliberate cold exposure or cryotherapy (cold therapy) . We’ve been offering Wim Hof classes with a certified instructor for over 4 years on our back deck, but it’s time to take it inside!

Cold exposure—also called ‘cold water immersion’, ‘ice baths’, ‘cold plunging’ or ‘Wim Hoff Method’ is great for reducing inflammation, boosting energy, mood, and metabolism, as well as boosting the immune system, lowering blood pressure, and increasing overall health and wellness.

The new cold plunge at Weightless boasts a tub-length of over 6ft., making it easy for taller individuals to sit comfortable while plunging. In addition to the icebath’s spacious size, it features top-of-the-line filtration, and a powerful cooling system that brings water down to 49ºF. Weightless has 4 float tanks and 3 different models of float tanks so… we’re verrrry familar with water pumps, filters, and sanitation systems.

What We Offer: contrast therapy

Book a sauna & cold plunge session, or pair it with a float session, either before or after.

We recommend the Sauna + Plunge + Float, or the Float + Sauna + Plunge, but there’s no wrong way to do it!

Your First Plunge:

It’s pretty straight forward— people have been doing this for….ever? but we do have some recommendations for first time plungers. It’s important to know that IT’S GOING TO BE COLD! We ask that you not scream or yell out, as we have other guests in services as well as yoga and meditation upstairs.

  1. Arrive, check-in, grab a pair of in-house sandals, and receive an orientation for your sauna and cold plunge. If you are floating first, we’ll show you to your sauna and plunge after your float session is finished. We have a lounge for relaxing between services with hot tea, water, a library and a guest book.

  2. Some people like to sit in the sauna and then plunge at the very end for 3min., others like to heat up in the sauna, dip in the cold water for a minute or two, then back into the sauna, and so-on for as many times as is comfortable.

  3. After being in the cold water you will MOST LIKELY BE COLD! There are some proven health benefits to allowing the body to heat up naturally after a plunge, but if you wish to sit in the sauna afterwards to warm back up, please factor that time into your entire allotted time in your Fire & Ice room.

  4. If you are going into a float after your contrast therapy session, please put on a robe and make your way to the lounge where we will show to you to your float session.
